Hey guys what’s up! At the end of 2008 I read the 4 Hour Work Week for the first time & actually felt like Tim Ferriss was speaking directly to me in almost every chapter, weird I know.

So anyways I’m reading it again now & got notice he released an expanded updated edition of the book. Poking around online, I found this amazing challenge post by Tim fourhourworkweek.com/blog/2009/12/08/no-more-excuses-how-to-make-an-extra-100000-in-the-next-6-months.

This is a pretty cool challenge open to anyone in the U.S. to set up an affiliate website through shopify.com.

Basically whoever sets up the most profitable business in the first 6 months online with shopify will win $100,000. This is cool in itself but I especially love the competitive nature of it as most who stick with it for the next 6 months will have a hopefully profitable business at the end of it. It’s following one simple business model.

Techie stuff will be helped with as well.

I wish everyone the best of luck and click here. to check it out & sign up.

Yes so I’ve been tagged by my fellow Marketing Academy student and friend Huddson to blog 25 things you don’t know about me. So without further ado, away we go and I hope you guys enjoy reading it!

1. I had a mullet in Jr. High School and didn’t realize it until years later. I would always go to the barber and tell him trim the top and sides but leave it long in the back.

2. I have commitment issues. I haven’t had a cell phone contract in 4 years but had the same prepaid phone the whole time until a month ago… Because I didn’t want to commit to a 2 year contract.

3. Growing up as a child my boyhood idol was Larry from 3’s Company.

4. As a kid I didn’t want to be a fireman or a doctor, I wanted to be a garbage man or used car salesman (Go back to #3 and you’ll get the why for car salesman)

5. My favorite food of all time is Mexican food. I wouldn’t be mad if all I had to eat burritos and tostadas every day for the rest of my life.

6. Alcohol is my anti-drug. My fav poisons are Coors Light and Vodka, separately of course.

7. In my early 20’s I worked part time at Express, the womens clothing store. I was the only guy on the sales floor at the time and was deemed “Fashion Expert”, yes I LOL’d at that too… Luckily it was based on hourly sales performance and not fashion sense.

8. Me and some friends pooled up money to buy a camper called the Golden Nugget and never once went camping with it.

9. In High School I was on the Varsity basketball team and scored 3 points in 2 years.

10. I swear like a sailor, I got it from being raised by my Grandma incidentally.

11. I am the 2nd worse karaoke singer ever (C’mon, there has to be at least 1 guy worse than me) but if we’re at a bar on karaoke night and I have enough booze in me I will be up there usually doing 80’s or 90’s hip hop or pop/rock.

12. Last summer I Rick Rolled an entire bar w/ the karaoke mic. It was kind of a tough crowd in there but to my surprise they loved it.

13. I am not a fan of Chinese food at all.

14. At 31 y/o I have no tattoos. Lucky I couldn’t get tattooed at 18 or 19 because I would have a blue eight ball and the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland on me somewhere.

15. About a year ago I seen a dude in a Black Spiderman hoodie w/ the hood up and wearing sunglasses walking to the Dunkin’ Donuts. It wasn’t cold enough for the hood to be up and not sunny enough to be wearing sunglasses so I thought something was up. All females work there so I decided to go in instead of going through the drive through. If something was going to go down and it was my time to die, what better way than to the Spiderman Robber while being a hero… He merely ordered a banana split.

16. I really don’t like the fact that I’m a cigarette smoker, Marlboro Lights BTW.

17. When Beverly Hills 90210 first came on in the early 90’s I always thought that would be a great place to live and great group of friends to have… Yes as I’m typing this I’m WOW’ing at it too LOL

18. I believe Eminem is the greatest rapper ever, no if’s, ands or buts.

19. I’ve been in love for about 5 years but it probably isn’t going to work out… It was the moment I laid eyes on the Audi TT Quattro up close but it prob won’t work out because I don’t know how to drive stick. I guess I’ll have to settle for a Beamer.

20. I’m not big into reality shows but have tried out for 2. The 2nd season of Apprentice and my friend got recruited to try out for this 2 bit reality show Mr. Romance so I went with him for the try out anyways and neither of us got picked.

21. I attended community college for 3 days. My favorite class was Psychology so I attended that class 2 of the 3 days.

22. Sometimes when I tell people I went to community college for 3 days they seriously ask if I’m like a Doogie Howser and what my degree was. For the record it usually happens to be blond women, just sayin’

23. I don’t watch a whole lot of tv but one of my favorite shows is Dog The Bounty Hunter.

24. In case you haven’t noticed I love to use “…” online.

25. I always vowed I would be a millionaire w/o the internet. Now the internet is my playground and soon to be serious business for me and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Ok well I had to write all this out so now here’s the fun part where I get to tag my 5 victims. Shall they choose to accept this mission are:

Hey guys what’s up. While taking care of some small tasks here on my blog I came across this post from one of my fellow Starting with Marketing students. Alex is the mentor to my mentor Dean Holland and he’s doing a free webinar. I saw this and was so excited that I had to post and share this with you. Check out the video and definitely check out his site to get in on this.

I’m not trying to get too overloaded with information myself but on this path to the “New Rich” for me will be a never ending cycle of learning. There’s always something new to learn every day as well as helping others along the way.

I’m pretty pumped right now about this whole thing and am about to go watch part 5 of Deans Marketing Academy. See you guys later and have a beautiful Friday!

My “Why” is simple. I want a lifestyle where I can “work” from anywhere in the world with an internet connection.

I haven’t been able to travel a whole lot in my lifetime but have been fortunate to be to some amazing places in the Great US of A!

When my first $1,000+ comes to me within a span of a few days (under a week) a 4 day weekend in Vegas will be called for, Thurs. Morn -Sun. Night. My friend Jay has never been on an airplane before so he will be on a plane for the first time. A few years ago we were watching the movie “Made” which if you liked “Swingers” with Vince Vaughn & John Favreau you will either love Made or hate it, no in between here. We happen to love it and when he seen Vince And John walking into LAX in suits to fly to New York, Jay said that will be us one day walking into the airport to head to Vegas. Yes we will buy nice suits specifically for this.

Now I’m not stopping there. When my first week of $4,000+ is made I shall spend 2-3 weeks on the island of Oahu in Waikiki. My Dream Machine is on here guys I have this planned out to the T and see it vividly. I will travel there with just a set of clothes to wear on the airplane and my laptop. No extra baggage. I will just buy swimming trunks, ridiculously loud Hawaiian shirts, probably a few cheesy tourist t-shirts and some flip flops out there. That will be my attire for the entire trip.

I will wake up early every morning and take a nice jog on the beach. Then cool off with a dip in the ocean. Return to my hotel room to take a shower and eat a nice breakfast of assortments of fresh fruits. Then read the daily local newspaper out there and next I will grab my trusty laptop and head out to my balcony or the beach to do some “work” online. Notice I put the word work in parentheses because I love what I do so it’s unfair to really call it work.

Hopefully during this time some friends will be able to fly out and hang with me while I’m out there. I’ll definitely go on the pub crawl they have because last time I was there I met some really cool people and fellow tourists. Another night I will go to the luau and enjoy the pig roast.

For the most part it will be a time of reflection and more than likely will be this upcoming winter and if anyone knows how brutal Chicago winters are this will be a much welcome retreat for me. This is where I will be doing the longer term goal setting for my business and plan out my next year+. Nice, cool, calm and relaxing it will be.

Oh and in my laptop bag I will also have the books “The 4 Hour Work Week” to re-read and Napoleon Hills “Laws of Success” a book I haven’t gotten around to diving into yet.

So all in all that’s my “Why”. As I grow my business I do plan on doing extensive travel out of the country for months at a time 4 Hour Work Week style. But for now these are my first 2 milestones I am looking forward to celebrate. I look forward to this and am well aware this won’t be possible without helping as many people as I can along the way. Hopefully this post can help you and maybe turn your Dream Machine on and actually visualize it.

If anyone decides to write their “Why?” blog post or already has let me know I’m eager to check them out.

So what’s your Why for wanting to succeed at internet marketing???

~Believe & Achieve~

We've always heard the saying "The money's in the list" but Dean Holland goes against this and explains the money's in the relationship with your list. We learned how to flawlessly set up an autoresponder and to provide valuable information and content to our list instead of making the mistake of hammering your list with sales pitches.

Yee-Haw! Now we’re getting down to funner most important pieces of the coaching. Dean Holland went on to share with us the flaw in the quote we hear over and over “The money’s in the list”.

The truth is the money’s in the relationship we build with our list. To put it into simple terms you need to provide valuable content, information and tools to your subscribers and not just mail them sales pitch after sales pitch. It should be common sense but I have opted out of several email lists where all the marketer was doing was selling stuff and not giving any real content away.

We also learned that there are 2 stages of list building, under 400 subscribers and having 400+ subscribers and he gave us some killer tactics to explode our lists as well.

In this module it had a bit more technical stuff like signing up for and setting up our autoresponder. I’ve avoided it for some time because honestly it seemed like a big undertaking to me. Luckily Aweber who I’m using has some great 20-30 second videos to help you along the way each step of setting up your autoresponder. If you’re at the point for setting up your autoresponder I listed the current coupon code for the first month $1 trial HERE.

As far as actually getting the email capture up I’m happy Dean walked us through with step by step videos making setting up everything flawlessly. I even have a squeeze page up which was nowhere near as difficult as I imagined it would be.

Oh by the way I am also excited to have my first ebook to give away which is awesome! It’s the Blog Setup Guide updated to Wordpress version 2.8 so others can go through it and get their own blogs set up and going. By the way Dean also made some videos that are included in the ebook as well and they’re clear and to the point to help you get your blog up and running in no time.

If you’re reading this and don’t have your blog set up yet or have no clue where to start it’s on the right on the sidebar, just add your name and email address and the Blog Setup Guide 2.8 will be emailed to you to download. It’s a complete A-Z guide to walk you through and get your blog set up in any niche.

Like I said I do have some cool stuff to share with my list and am learning more and more daily so will be able to help you along with your business as Dean Holland is helping me with mine. Now if you don’t want all this stuff but want to get your blog set up enter your name and email address, confirm your email to opt in, download the ebook then you can simply unsubscribe if you like. But I am here to help you along the way and share the knowledge I am learning along the way so feel free to shoot me an email if I can help or you’re stuck somewhere.

Hey guys sorry I’ve neglected to post in the last few days as I am getting excited from what I’m learning and jumping in and applying it right off. So I’m going to go into part 3 of the training so far to keep you all up to speed of what I’ve been doing.

The 3rd module in the Starting with Marketing Academy is one of the most important parts of any blog/website or online business period. Yes it answered the elusive question of “How do I get traffic to my site?”. You may have the greatest product or service in the world giving the most value but if no one sees it or your information it’s pretty useless.

Dean Holland broke it down with some very simple and easy to follow methods. Actually he shared with us the exact same methods he personally used to go from newbie with no blog, no list and no traffic to quitting his job and going into internet marketing full time in just 8 months which is pretty freaking exciting!

He went over the 2 different types of traffic which are free and paid. The cool thing is Dean got to where he is today by using only free traffic. As of now he hasn’t used any Pay Per Click or SEO services.

The free methods are time intensive but a great way to build relationships and get targeted traffic. He covered the social media as a way of gaining traffic such as Twitter. Another great way is providing value by posting on others blogs in your niche. The key is you have to provide value here so if someone likes what you have to say they can click your name and check out your blog. Another cool thing is when you post on someone else’s blog you also get a backlink back to your blog which over time helps with the search engines.

I always groaned when I heard of this method of getting traffic. What I’ve realized is that it’s fun to go “blog hopping” and check out other peoples blogs and see what they have going on. I’ve learned some cool stuff from others blogs and it’s also a great way to get ideas for your own blog and future posts.

The other day I caught the end of one of my favorite movies “White Men Can’t Jump”. One of the scenes I missed this time around popped into my head and I think it’s a great message.

Woody Harrelsons character ‘Billy’ is in bed with his girlfriend played by Rosie Perez. She wakes him up in the middle of the night and tells him she’s thirsty. So being a man and wanting to solve her problem he rolls out of bed, trudges over to the sink and gets her a glass of water, simple enough right.

Well being a female this doesn’t make her happy. (Of course LOL) She says she read something in a womens’ magazine and then tells him “If I’m thirsty, I don’t want you to bring me a glass of water. I want you to sympathize. I want you to say: “Gloria, I too know what it feels like to be thirsty. I, too, have had a dry mouth.” I want you to connect with me through understanding the concept of drymouthedness.”

Here’s a link to the actual voice clip it’s the second one down.

Sometimes we get caught up in the positive motivational stuff and in helping others. We become almost robots willing to eagerly help others or parrots spouting off quotes from others and we often forget about the connection. Now I’m not saying it’s a bad thing to be willing to help others out but sometimes when someone says something they don’t always want you to solve it for them, they just make a statement and you can vibe and connect with them.

Sometimes we give out advice when it’s not asked for and people hate this. Oh, I’m very much guilty here myself. Most of the time all thats needed is to form the connection with them by understanding what they feel as we’ve been there before ourselves.

This goes for real life and online interactions as well. I notice a lot of times when asking a question on a forum the simple act of just typing it out will often give me the answer to my own question.

It’s like the whole social media thing with Twitter, Facebook etc. If someone posts something that’s on their mind they don’t always want your link to the solution but maybe a connection then later on they may be interested in your solution. This is marketing and not selling. We set up these sites, web pages etc. and have them there with information for free or paid so when someone is actively seeking a solution they can find the information they need.

So all in all what I’m saying in 400+ words is just because someone says they’re thirsty it doesn’t always mean they want you to bring them a glass of water.

Most people never fully learn something because they try to learn it as opposed to really absorbing the information.

Hey guys quick blog post here. As you know I’ve made the decision to join Dean Hollands Marketing Academy and hire him as my mentor to show me how to build a business online as opposed to trying to make a quick buck. Dean’s thrown us a bonus Sunday webinar today in addition to the coaching modules. The bonus webinar is winding down now but I’m excited about the coaching so far so had to type this blog post as it all ties right in.

While I was driving back from Dunkin’ Donuts this morning I heard a Rosetta Stone commercial on the radio. It said most people don’t learn another language because they try to learn as opposed to really absorbing the information. This is really key for learning anything else in general and especially true of internet marketing.

Most of you have heard of the “Law of Attraction” whether it be attracting success or anything really and the word try. You may have read it in “Think & Grow Rich” (Awesome book BTW!), “The Secret” or any other success oriented materials. The word try tells your mind that you will attempt to do something and it will be an ongoing process as no definitive time line is set so try is out of our vocabulary.

The same is with the word learning as it’s an ongoing process as well so your mind takes learning as results can wait. I think when we really get a belief that we’re absorbing the information to be applied right away it gives a better signal and message to our waves of thought.

Making money online isn’t going to happen right away but if you have a proven system in place and the right mindset for success it will happen within a reasonable amount of time. I’m not stuffing boatloads of cash into my bank account just yet but it is all getting clearer to me as I am getting the foundation of my business set up one piece at a time. Like Dean emphasizes this isn’t get rich quick but get rich forever.

Having it all laid out step by step from Dean now the ball is rolling and in the last few weeks I’ve really absorbed the information as opposed to the last months I’ve spent learning all of this.

I’m stoked as our scheduled next module is going to be going on tomorrow!

Believe And Achieve!
